A membership provides part ownership of the lodge.
There are currently memberships for sale and you could express an interest via a referral from a member.
If you are looking to sell your membership, an indicative price as at July 2024 is $26,000 for a single membership.
Definitions & Member Rules
Single Membership means any person holding ten thousand (10,000) units (whether partly or fully paid) in the Dinner Plain Unit Trust (‘the Trust”).
Family Membership means any person holding twenty thousand (20,000) units (whether partly or fully paid) in the Dinner Plain Unit Trust (‘the Trust”).
The Trustee means the Trustee of the Trust.
Ski Season means the official opening of the ski season to the official closing of the ski season.
Non-Ski Season means any other time apart from the ski season with the exception of long weekends and public holidays.
Peak Summer means all public holidays and long weekends outside of the ski season. This includes the Christmas/New Year break and Easter.
Single Members
Ski Season & Peak Summer: Are entitled to take up to 3 guest plus themselves. Further guests may be booked in one week prior to the start of their holiday if there are vacancies.
Non-Ski Season: Are entitled to take as many guests as they please i.e. up to 13 guests.
Family Members
Ski Season & Peak Summer: Are entitled to take up to 4 guests above the 4 persons considered as family members i.e. 8 people in total. Further guests may be booked in one week prior to the start of their holiday.
Non-Ski Season: Are entitled to take as many guests as they please i.e. up to 13 guests.
Membership Allocation
For single members, only one person can be allocated as a member. For family members, 2 people can be allocated as members. Memberships are not transferable on a casual basis. A dedicated member (s) must be appointed on an annual basis (June 1 to May 31).
Guest Allocation
Family members can have up to 4 people on the discounted rate. Subsequent members will be charged at the guest rate beyond the first 4 people.
If an infant (up to the age of 3) doesn’t use a bed (e.g. uses a portable cot or shares a bed with another person in the room) and is placed in the same room then no fee is charged. Any additional child 3+ requires a bed and is charged at the ‘guest rate’.
Single members can have up to 2 people at the discounted rate and subsequent guests are charged at ‘guest rates’.
Children’s Rights
Children (no matter what age) do not have member rights. They must be accompanied by a parent (member) at all times when staying at the lodge. It is however acceptable if a member chooses to reassign their membership for a 12 month period from June 1 to May 31 the following year if aged 18+, and at the discretion of the Director. During that period the owner of the membership (the parent) has no member rights to the lodge. Units can also be transferred to children permanently once they reach the age of 18.
Voting Policy
Substantial Vote – requires a minimum of 75% of units voting to be passed as a vote and the outcome is based on a majority vote (i.e. over 50% of voting members)
- Any decisions involving expenditure over $50,000
- Any decisions that have a significant individual financial impact for each member
- Any changes to the Trust Deed
Normal Vote – requires a minimum of 50% of units voting to be passed as a vote and the outcome is based on a majority vote (i.e. over 50% of voting members)
- Any decisions involving expenditure from $10,000 to $50,000
- Any major changes to rules
- Any changes to nightly rates beyond a standard cpi increase
Non Vote – no vote from members required; Director has discretion to make decisions
- Any expenditure less than $10,000
- Day-to-day operations of the lodge such as supplies
